The question came up on Twitter, and Gary Illyes commented again on the supposed sandbox.
There are still many sites, including “penalty checkers”, that promote Google sandbox as an active thing that acts as a suppression for new sites in the search results. But Google has confirmed yet again that this is not a thing affecting sites in the search results today.
Do you feel your brand new site is supressed in the search results? Chances are it is either an indexing issue – more than one site has claimed they are in the sandbox when it was really that they were blocking Googlebot from indexing the site – or it is simply that the site doesn’t have any links to give the site the boost in the results to start being visible.
