Google has announced they have launched new app advertisements for both Google Search and YouTube. Google initially announced the ads would be coming back in June, at the same time they launched new app display ads.
The new ads are available globally. They are also designed to only show to users who do not have your app already installed, so you won’t be wasting ad views on those who have already downloaded your app.
For YouTube ads, they can be run by linking the ads to the app’s ID within AdWords TrueView campaigns. For setting up TrueView campaigns, Google has a help page leading advertisers through the new process.
For “TrueView for mobile app promotion” campaigns, we’ll ask you to enter the URL app you want to promote and your YouTube video, so we can send people to the appropriate app store to download your app straight from your ad. You’ll enter the app URL from your app store while you’re creating your campaign.
Note: The Android version of an app is different from the iOS version. Targeting and conversion tracking will depend on the operating system of the app you select.
Google has also announced the ability to deeplink users from Google Search to specific pages built within an app the user has already installed. For those interested, you can sign up for the beta here.
For more information, you can also attend a Google Hangout on Air for “Promoting Your App on Search.”
