Previously promoted pins are only appearing in search results and in category fields. But now Pinterest is set to ramp up pins views by making them show up the homepage feed that users see when they log in.
It is unclear exactly what algorithm Pinterest is using in order to show these pins within the user homepage feed. Will it be based on other pins that are showing up? Or will it be somehow keyword-based based on interests?
Pinterest also reminds users that they can go and remove any promoted pins that shows up in their feed that they are not interested in, and they can also let Pinterest know why they are hiding it, similarly to how Facebook users can hide a promoted post from their news feed.
Pinterest also has a form that allows users to submit feedback, anonymously if they wish, about the promoted pins they are seeing in the home feed, category feeds or in Pinterest search results.
