Ever uploaded something to Instagram, seen lots of shares and comments, then notice that glaring typo you made in the caption? Instagram has finally made the change to allow captions to be edited.
We’ve added the ability to go back and edit captions on your posts. When you share a moment to Instagram, a typo shouldn’t get in the way. This has been one of the top requests that we’ve heard from the community, and we’re excited to finally bring it to you today. You’ll find a new “Edit” option in the menu beneath your image. Tap it to edit your caption.
Do be aware that the caption will be flagged as edited when any viewer views the caption and comments on the post. However, there doesn’t seem to be a time limit on how new or old a post needs to be to have the edit feature available.
Chances are good we will see some users – or hacked accounts – pulling some bait and switch on old captions for spam purposes, so it will be interesting to see if Instagram plans to police this at all.
