While Joomla was rumored to be one of the CMS platforms that would be AMP ready, it seems that this still has not happoened. On the positive side, there now is a plugin option for sites that wish to implement AMP on Joomla without having to code it personally.
Weeblr has created a plugin for Joomla to create AMP pages, and not surprisingly, it comes in two varieties. The first option is a free but bare bones version of wbAMP, which creates AMP pages for your Joomla pages.
There is a paid version, which includes things such as Analytics and ad network support. There are no details listed on the cost but they did say it would be an annual subscription.
That said, for Joomla sites wanting to dip their toes into the world of AMP to see if it is worth it, the free version should be fine to test with – aside from the fact you can’t personally test or track visitors due to the lack of analytics support.

Thanks for this article, but it does not explain how to configure it.
And in weeblr it is not very clear,
I’d like to have a real “how to” step by step, it would be great

I unfortunately do not have a Joomla site to do testing on, but I will see about getting a guinea pig site to do it 🙂

Hi Jennifer and Serge,
Yannick from Weeblr here.
@Serge
There’s little configuration to get started, but we have full documentation freely available here at https://weeblr.com/rxq. In case you need a bit more help, we have a user forum for the Community forum at https://weeblr.com/ruf. We monitor it for now, and will answer most questions. And the standard edition comes with support of course
@Jennifer: the standard edition was released on monday, All our extensions are open-source, GPL licensed as is customary with Joomla, and with an annual subscription indeed. All details on the site.
Thanks for mentioning wbAMP it, hope you can find yourself a Joomla site to test it soon! Feel free to get in touch if needed.
