Google is testing displaying in-depth articles within the search results without showing any header above them.
Dr. Pete Meyers from Moz first noticed the change in their Mozcast data, but was unable to replicate the test. However, it is actually a test that is live, as I am seeing it in my search results.
Here is how it appears without the “In-Depth Articles” header.
And here is it how we usually see it in the search results with the header.
Mozcast shows a dramatic drop in the in-depth articles listings as well, even though it appears to be a limited test.
This change is kind of interesting. Do more people click on in-depth results when they are labeled as such? Or perhaps without the label Google would see more people clicking the back button when they were looking for less-in-depth articles about the topic.
Here is a full page of the search results that do not show the in-depth articles tag.
