Google Officially Removes YouTube Keyword Tool

If you have been a fan of the YouTube keyword tool, a tool that many marketers found useful beyond YouTube as well, Google has officially removed the tool in its current form.

Google recently began alerting users that they would be disabling the tool on September 1st with an alert at the page stating:

The YouTube ads keyword tool will be disabled on September 1st.  We recommend using the Display Planner in AdWords for video keyword suggestions.

But curiously, while the alert directed people to the Display Planner, the current YouTube keyword tool simply serves a 404 error at this time.

In the Display Planner, you can still select it to only show video keywords by selecting Video from the “Ad formats and sizes” filter for individual targeting ideas.

To use the Google Display Planner, you must have an AdWords account.  However, AdWords accounts are free and you can access all the keyword tools without running any advertisements.
