Google Does Not Devalue Pages With Internal Nofollow Links

Many site owners will nofollow internal links for a number of reasons, such as for siloing for PageRank or crawl budget reasons, or in a misinformed attempt to get an outbound link manual action lifted.  While nofollowing internal links won’t cause an issue with Google, such as a penalty, what about the value of the page with those nofollow links on it?

According to a question raised on Twitter, there are some who believe that having nofollow internal links on a page is reason that Google will devalue the page.

Gary Illyes from Google responded and said Google does not.

That said, when you nofollow internal links, then the page being linked from will have less value to the site – or the pages linked to – than if the links were regular followed links, since the page is no longer passing any PageRank through those links. But Google won’t devalue a page in the rankings for having internal nofollowed links on the page.
