Google Kills Two More Link Networks

Google has targeted two more link networks resulting in many unnatural linking penalties being sent out to webmasters.  While it has been a few months since Google has taken down another international link network, clearly they are continuing on in their fight against link networks.  However, signs indicate that at least one of the networks was a particularly large one.

The link networks hit this time were Polish network, although specific details about which link networks got hit isn’t known, as it usually takes a few days for news to come out about which ones, unless one of the networks in question releases a statement about it (although Barry Schwartz tweeted Karolina Kruszyńska asking if she would name the networks).

Google previously targeted Polish link networks back in February in their international links crackdown, which saw many countries targeted for unnatural links.

Bartosz Góralewicz ‏was the first to notice the link network penalty and tweeted this screenshot of a Google Webmaster Tools account with a long list of unnatural link warning notices.

Matt Cutts from the Search Quality Team at Google also confirmed the penalties taken against the link network.

He also makes a comment that they are not always tweeting about the penalties, so it is likely that other link networks have been taken out over the past few months, but not widely reported on.

The Google Poland Blog also posted about how to make a reconsideration request to Google once a site has been penalized.

With this much attention being given to reconsideration requests, and especially because a similar post wasn’t made in February when a previous Polish link network was penalized, it is very likely that this was a huge network that was taken down.

Google confirms it was two link networks that were hit.
