If you haven’t liked the lack of control that Google gives business owners when it comes to the photos being displayed in their Google My Business listing on both the web and in Android and iOS apps, you are in for some good news. Google is finally allowing business owners the opportunity to update their logo and cover photos.
This change means that businesses can pick and choose the types of photos they wish for potential customers to see and show off various aspects of their business or products. It also allows for the use of different images displayed in different product areas of Google, such as one for a Google+ logo and another in the Google search result.
Google is also adding additional guidance to various types of businesses to help the business owner select the photos that will show off their business the best. This helps business owners know the types of photos that users tend to look for and engage with.
There is an additional feature that allows restaurant owners to include more details about food and drink related images on their profile.
This is a much needed change. This been a pain point for many business owners because they were not able to update images that have been submitted by users, especially those that don’t represent the business in the kind of light that they wish to be seen. Whether it was blurry photos or outdated looks, this change will make it much easier for businesses to show off photos they wish to their potential customers.
