Google AdWords No Longer Allowing Credit Cards for Large Customer Sales Advertisers

Kirk Williams tweeted to the #ppcchat Twitter group an incredible change that is hitting the largest Google AdWords customers – they will no longer be able to use credit cards to pay their AdWords accounts, but must move to an invoicing system.

It’s no secret that many people take advantage of cash back and air miles perks on credit cards to take some of the pain out of their Google AdWord spend.  Even some trusting consultants use their own credit cards after they receive up front payments from their clients, in order to cash in on credit card perks.

It is unclear just how “big” the spend needs to be before they must move to an invoicing system, but some companies move hundreds of thousands of dollars (and some more) through their AdWords accounts each month, so those credit card perks can add up very quickly.  But for now it is only affecting those who fall under LCS – Large Customer Sales with their AdWords accounts.

It will be interesting to see if some companies reduce their spend to get under the threshold for credit cards, or if the perks associated with LCS will make it worth it.  But there will be plenty of advertisers pretty unhappy with this change.
