They are also soliciting information or confirmation that a business is wheelchair accessible, along with other information related to the business. This can be accessed by clicking the “suggest changes” but it will come up by default for some businesses when Google is actively needing more information.
In this case, it was asking for confirmation for information that had already been submitted.
It shows up internationally. It only seems to be available on mobile though, and not desktop.
The feature was created by Rio Akasaka, a product manager in Google Drive, as part of the 20% time personal projects that Google employees often take advantage of.
This is a great addition to the local panels, and if you are a wheelchair accessible business, you will want to make sure your business is tagged as such.
