Google has added new carousel results for popular topics and websites in the search results. These new carousels are meant to make it quick and easy for users to flip through multiple articles, videos and more from the same source while on a mobile device.
This is also good news for webmasters because this means that there’s potentially more room for results above the fold on a mobile device – or at least more results in the same space. And if you are one of the websites that is featured in a “More from ____” carousel, this means that you just made it easier for your users to quickly find the content they want even if their search results wasn’t quite as narrow as it could be, which tends to happen on mobile.
This is running only on a limited number of sites of time, but they are adding this feature to more sites. So you won’t see it right away for your site and less it is one of the larger and highly trafficked sites.
However if you would like your site to show up in his results, you should add the appropriate structured data to your articles and videos. This way you are letting Google now the proper images and titles to displaying these carousel results. They have structured data markup information for both articles and videos.
As always, this is one of the perks that some sites get in search results so you can’t expect every site will get this special carousel treatment, especially since multiple carousels would completely clutter the search results. But if you would like Google to possibly reduce your site, definitely recommended that you as a structured data, even if they aren’t using it.
