Embed Twitter Videos Directly To Websites

If you post many videos directly to Twitter, you’ll be happy to know that now users can embed your videos directly.

The new video embedding allows users to link the direct video, which will show as a traditional video screen, but it will also display the Twitter logo and the uploaders name and Twitter handle. Users can view the embedded video and click to play it.  They can also then click on Twitter logo to see the accompanying tweet, or click on the username to see the users profile, which opens up in a new tab.

This new embedding makes it less clunky when users are trying to link to tweets when there’s an accompanying video.

Because Twitter often has people posting breaking news related videos, this will make it much cleaner for new sources and another websites looking to link to these videos. It will hopefully it helps prevents many of these types of sites from ripping the video and upload it to YouTube instead, which has offered a video embedding option for years.

Of course, as Twitter is struggling with their monetization, it gives them another avenue to get their ads on other sites when people and that these tweets, so they are looking to add pre-roll video ads or overlay ads, both which YouTube does well at.

Twitter is the latest social media platform really pushing with their video offerings. Facebook has been pushing users to upload video directly to Facebook, rather than linking to YouTube. And users on Facebook of notice that their new stream is filled with mostly videos now.
