Mozcast has noticed a pretty significant jump in the number of in-depth articles being displayed in the Google Search results.
Looking at Mozcast data, there was a dip on September 9th before it increased to 12.7% the following day. However, the September 25, 2014 jump went up by 30%, with in-depth articles now being shown in 16.6% of the tracked search results.
Dr. Pete Meyers from Moz also tweeted about the jump, so it doesn’t sound as though it is a bug in the Mozcast data.
Looks like another substantial jump in In-depth Articles in the last day or so – http://t.co/bgSvEMe1Si

We know Google has been pushing the in-depth articles quite a bit, but they unfortunately come at a cost to webmasters who might lose traffic when competitor’s pages get highlighted significantly by Google which increases CTR. However, for those that are displayed as an in-depth articles result, it can drive up clickthroughs significantly.
