Most businesses have straightforward hours of operation. Others do not. And Las Vegas casinos definitely fall into the “not” category. After all, most casinos are open 24 hours a day, but inside the hotel and casino, the admin staff might only be a Monday through Friday work schedule. But somehow, these limited and presumably admin staff hours are the ones showing up in Bing local results.
Imagine doing a search for a Las Vegas hotel and casino, only to see it listed as “closed today.” Here is what Luxor’s listing looks like in Bing.
There is no context – is it closed for renovations? Is it referring to a restaurant or venue inside the hotel or casino?
Clicking on the down arrow to expand, you see this:
Either Bing crawled the Luxor site and found hours or someone submitted what is likely office hours, instead of the hours of what most people are likely wanting to see – the hours of operation of the casino itself.
Here is another casino listing which implies the casino is only open Monday through Friday, although at least this one doesn’t have the eye catching “Closed today” on it.
Bottom line, if you are a business that has mixed business hours – such as a resort or a hotel and casino, you should definitely check your business hours listed in Bing to ensure they are correct, and aren’t implying the business is closed when it is really open.
