It looks like Bing is following Google’s lead and adding a site search bar below some listings in the Bing Search Results.
When you search using the “search results from _____” search box, it then returns a list of Bing results using site:example.com.
Bing did a test of this a couple of years ago, but it seemed to be only a single example. I am seeing this for multiple search queries.
What is interesting though, is Google also displays the site search box for “Home Depot” as well, but those searches are actually routed through Home Depot’s site search engine with schema markup, so they display the search results right on their own site.
It is interesting that Bing isn’t choosing to do the same for the site search in their own results, unless it was simply for test purposes.
When comparing the two, Google’s site search box option is definitely the superior search option, particularly since it shows their search results with product visuals, while Bing just has in their own search results.
Bing has occasionally included a site search box in their search results, however it has been restricted to only Microsoft properties. This new variation is also styled differently, with a blue background and light grey text.
This seems to be available to all Bing users now, however it doesn’t appear for all sites.
