Bing Adds Reading Level & Word Count to Book Knowledge Panels

Bing has added some new detail to their book knowledge panels in the search results detailing both word count and reading level.

The one drawback to the reading level is that Bing offers no link or reference for searchers to know what AR points or ATOS reading level means.  Unless you are an educator, you probably have never heard of either of them before, so it would have been beneficial to link to a page or have a mouse over that would describe each of them in more detail.

The addition of the word count is nice, however I suspect that people won’t have a high frame of reference for something that says “226,905 words”.  Having the addition of page numbers would have been more beneficial, something that Google has added to their search results, although not to knowledge panels.  For those curious, 226k words equals 692 pages.

Added: The source for the word count and reading level is AR BookFinder.  They do not include all books, so you won’t see this information on some of the newer books.
