Bing Adds New Recipe Icons to Bing Image Search

If you prefer to search for new recipes by how good it looks, you will be happy to learn of Bing’s latest change to their image search.  Now, when you search for food or recipes using Bing Image Search, images that have a recipe on the destination page will show a new chef’s hat badge to alert searchers about the availability of a recipe.

The new icon will also show the number of sites with recipes that use that image for their recipe.  These icons will display on all images, even if you haven’t clicked to enlarge it or moused over it.

But depending what you are searching for, you might find that the recipe photos really aren’t that much different.  Here is a similar search for “sweet and sour chicken”.

This also has an added benefit.  If you are a recipe creator and have used your own image for the recipe, you can use the number on the chef’s hat badge to know how many other sites might have republished your recipe and image.  However, many of the images could be pinned images for the recipe on Pinterest.

Bing has been adding many recipe features to their site this year.  We saw a new enhanced recipe tabbed answer box directly in the Bing Search results, as well as a similar version for cocktails too.

Here is a video from Bing on the search in action.

The following two tabs change content below.
