Bing Adds “Pokestop Nearby” to Restaurant Filtering Options

If you are a Pokemon Go player, you will be happy to know that Bing has added a new sorting option for their restaurant filtering – filtering by nearby Pokestops.

When you search for a nearby restaurant, either by location or by restaurant type, they have added a new filter from the drop down menu “Any Features” to list “Pokestop Nearby.”

It will re-sort the restaurant carousel by Pokestops once you select it as the option.  It doesn’t specify how many Pokestops are “nearby” nor if they can be reached from inside the restaurant itself, though, even when you click through to one of the restaurants.

Only restaurants will trigger this option.  Other local businesses don’t have the option to sort by Pokestops, nor to places like coffee shops or pubs.

It appears it might only be available for US restaurants, but it isn’t clear where exactly Bing is pulling this information from, such as if the information is directly from Niantic, the company behind Pokemon Go.

It is interesting that Bing has not done any publicity for this change – I first noticed it earlier this year.
