Last year Google added links in the knowledge panels for movies and television shows where searchers could watch the movie or show via links from multiple online services. Bing has now followed suit and added their own links.
When you compare the Google version versus the Bing one, Google’s version is much more comprehensive in the viewing options. For example, with the movie Divergent, Google offers links to 6 different services, including iTunes.
But on the Bing version, they only list 3 sources, with both Google Play and iTunes noticeably absent. Instead they include Amazon, Microsoft Movies & TV, and then an option for iMDb to view the trailer.
Google also includes information about pricing in their knowledge panel, while Bing simply states “Watch”.
It is good to see Bing continue to add features, but it is obvious that this particular addition isn’t nearly as valuable to a searcher as the Google version. And it is notable that while one might expect them to exclude Google Play, the fact iTunes is also missing is a glaring omission from Bing’s implementation of it.
