Zineb Ait Bahajji has announced they have added a new filter to Google Search Console for the “install app” button in Google Search Analytics reporting.
The new filter is called “Search Appearance” and shows information about the app install button displayed to mobile users.
Currently, you can use that filter to see data about your ‘install app’ button in Google mobile search results. Thanks to this, you can now see which queries your users typed to see the install button for your app, and also filter by country to see where most of your app users come from.
She does also state that this is not tracking actual downloads in the Google Play Store, but rather information from the button’s appearance in the search results.
They have also added it to the Data Anomalies page, specifically stating that it can impact the total number of clicks and impressions in the Search Analytics reporting.
Apps only: App install button data in search results added to the report. This change may increase the total number of clicks and impressions.
This is only tracking Android app install buttons.
@jaaved Yes, it is rolled out globally, for all search console users who have an android app verified.

This is a great addition to Search Console for those webmasters with apps, as it allows them to get much more data about the “install app” button displayed in Google search. It should be live in accounts now.
