New Book & Play Themed Carousels in Google Knowledge Panels

google book carouselsGoogle has added some new features to the Google Search results in both the knowledge panel and the associated carousel for books as well as both musicals and plays.

This was actually a feature I was hoping for when covering a similar feature for movies.

Here is how the new book related knowledge panels appear:

book kpYou will also notice the “preview book” option that Google began testing earlier this year.

When you click through one of the “People also search for” options, it displays the results in a carousel.

There is also a slightly different version that simply lists books at the bottom of the knowledge panel, instead of listing themes etc.

Here is an example of the musical/play version of knowledge panel:

They also show (somewhat better) on mobile search results too.

This is a great addition to the search results, especially for book lovers who are looking for alternatives for finding books other than Amazon / Good Reads.
