Normally when you think of the Bing – or Google – search results, you don’t expect to see regular pay per click non-shopping ads with images, other than some exceptions for favicons. But Bing is changing it up by including images in their top Bing Ads ad unit that appears at the top of the Bing search results.
Here is an example of the text/image ad in the search results that not only includes the favicon but also a thumbnail size logo with tag line underneath it to the right of the ad.
Here is how it looks within a search results page, and you can see it stands out quite a bit.
They are also running in Bing Ads that are being displayed in Yahoo search results too.

The funny thing is that Bing Ads Costumer Service don’t know anything about this, and they confirm me it is not possible to add an image to an Bing Ad.
They think the blog entry is manipulated. I can show you the history of the chat if you will.

Wow, I would love to see that. Definitely wasn’t manipulated… wasn’t even resized from the original screencap.

This could probably be a new test that they might be running with select advertisers. For sure this is not available to all.

I also saw them this morning, while grabbing screenshots for another article… from a different computer than the one I saw them on previously.

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to chime in here as we saw this article yesterday and initially were a bit confused as this looks just like RAIS (Rich Ads In Search), so we reached out to our Yahoo rep to see what this new ad format was and in fact, this is not a new and is just a demonstration of
RAIS. RAIS was first a Yahoo product but was incorporated into Adcenter in July of 2011. Rich Ad campaigns are only available for your brand terms and must be whitelisted on the backend by your rep. You can then upload your images desired. They usually have CTR’s much higher than normal brand campaigns and I would highly recommend getting them into your accounts ASAP if you don’t have them. We were also just notified that Bing will be sunsetting these in November and won’t allow any new campaigns to be uploaded after July 30th so get those requests in soon!
Hope this helps!

Thanks, that must be why no one ever sees then!
